According to French outlet , the deal that was supposed to take Lyon s Nabil Fekir to Liverpool is now completely dead.
Having signed Fabinho from Monaco and Naby Keita from RB Leipzig, Jürgen Klopp was keen on completing the midfield overhaul by adding Fekir to the ranks as the most fitting replacement for Philippe Coutinho. Ahead of the World Cup, the two clubs had agreed a fee amounting to a total of around £52million including bonuses.
However, the deal fell through, apparently after the medical revealed the extent of damage the player suffered on his knee. Fekir suffered an ACL tear 2015 and has had surgeries on the same knee afterwards.
There were various reports that the possibility of the transfer still happening would be reconsidered after the tournament in Russia, but now it seems otherwise as Le Progrés claim that have completely pulled out of the deal. Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is hopeful Fekir will remain at the club, but the report doesn t rule out a move somewhere else.
